Philosophy
THE BEGINNING

Hampus was started in 2001 by Svend Støvlbæk (CEO & Chief of design).
​
Svend was originally educated as a kindergarten teacher and up through the nineties he worked in daycare centers in the Copenhagen area, where he got an insight in children’s play, as well as their cognitive and creative manifestations.
Being entrepreneurical Svend developed new ways of working with childrens narratives and began working on the settings for imaginative play.
He was appointed project manager for a new playground, and thus the idea for Hampus was born!

OUTSTANDING PLAY SPACES

Hampus are today top of the line in developing outstanding playspaces - playspaces where children are given the opportunity to create their own unique fantasy universe for play.

THE NAME AND THE IDEOLOGY
​
The name “Hampus” comes from the swedish TV series “The White Stone” about the boy Hampus and the girl Fia spending their time together playing.
The combination of creativity, imagination, nature and play from the tv series became an inspiration for the basic thoughts behind the playgrounds Hampus design today.
